NGO in Phnom Penh Looking for Volunteers to Fly 19 Rescued 'Slaughterhouse Dogs" to California
From the Expats and Locals Living in Phnom Penh Group:
'Urgently looking for flight volunteers who can fly from Phnom Penh to Los Angeles on Qatar airways as is the easiest connection out from Cambodia with regards to paperwork. We have a limitation of three dogs per person on this airline. Open to other route options too. We have 19 rescued slaughter house dogs who need to be flown.'
And probably the most sensible comment on the topic:
'Is there seriously nowhere in the whole of Asia where these dogs could be found a home at a fraction of the cost of flying them to California?
This is the most ridiculous waste of money. And all, presumably, so that some Californians can impress their neighbours by showing them the Cambodian dogs they heroically rescued, at great personal expense, from 'those Asian savages'.
Honestly, just get a grip.'

Re: NGO in Phnom Penh Looking for Volunteers to Fly 19 Rescued 'Slaughterhouse Dogs" to California
To be honest, I've never seen a place in Cambodia growing 'slaughterhouse dogs'. I guess there's little need for it, there's more than enough 'roadside dog meat' to feast on, and sometimes people kill their dog when it becomes nasty or too old.
My neighbor had a puppy hit by a truck. Sad. Grandma next door offered to take care of the deceased pup. The made 'somlor m'chew krueng' with special meat and had a good night.
Bringing those 19 dogs to the USA and spending money on it just seems incredibly insane if you think about what you could have done to help another species, humans for instance, with the amount of money spend. I'm not even talking about the amount of CO2 spilled into the air to traffic those 19 dogs.

Dogs? They look like mini drug mules to me. Just waiting for some sap to take their opium laden bodies back to M r B i g.

Got rid of a snarly little fucker the other day. Local guy came and grabbed it. All over in a second. I've killed quite a few cows, sheep, roos, even a few dog's, in the past. Just don't kill the fuckers with a blowtorch. WTF is that shit?
