Cambodia strongman delights as orangutans dance and kickbox
Agence France-Presse
Phnom Penh | Sat, June 23, 2018 | 04:29 pm
- Cambodia's strongman leader HE took a brief break from electioneering on Saturday to watch orangutans roller skate, kickbox and dance provocatively as he opened the first major zoo in the capital.
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

More circus than zoo.
I won't be going.
I won't be going.
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

Animal activists would go apeshit if they went to this zoo.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

What do Chinese people call a zoo?
A buffet!
A buffet!
Everyone is equal. Everyone has a place. No one is written off, because there is worth and goodness in every life... That is the Republican ideal. And if we won't defend it, who will?

'Dangerous, demeaning’: Video shows orangutans fighting in Cambodian zoo
16/07/2018
Video filmed at a zoo in Cambodia shows orangutans in a boxing ring punching each other for entertainment.
3AW Mornings producer Michael Hilder filmed the video in Phnom Penh recently.
Neil Mitchell said it was demeaning to the animals but also dangerous to encourage them to fight.
RSPCA CEO Dr Liz Walker said it was important to have clear standards of animal welfare and care when animals are used as entertainment.
“When I saw that I thought it was very concerning,” she said.
“It’s a different culture over there. For us here, many Australians would find that really confronting.
“If you don’t like it, just say no.”

What do you think she means ? "Just say no, don't go watch this", or "Just say no. Go and tell them that you are not ok with orangutan boxing" ?“If you don’t like it, just say no.”
Re: Safari World, Cambodia's largest zoo, opening soon in Phnom Penh
I visited Safari World several times with my kids, when it was located in Koh Kong. The orangutang living facilities were excellent, far superior to most zoos, and the animals seemed healthy and well adjusted. The boxing show was even less serious than WWE. The animals wore heavily padded gloves and no serious blows were landed. The bouts were staged purely for comedy.
I also watched tigers being trained for shows. What impressed me was that they were not using any form of punishment or threats; only food rewards. Don't be too quick to condemn. I've seen far worse in developed countries.

Nerco’ing this old thread to see if anyone has been recently.
I was thinking of taking the kids there tomorrow.
