How to take over someone's phone number in Cambodia

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I had to pay $2 to replace their SIM card that stopped working, which I initially objected to as unreasonable fee, until he told me it included $2 in credits.

About a year ago I renewed a damaged SIM card at the Smart shop near Psar Chas. I had all the details ID etc, but forgot that when I registered it a few years ago I had no id on me and used a friends id who was with me at the time. They would not replace the sim without her id. I telephoned her and got her to speak to the guy at the shop. Still they would not change the Sim without her being present with her ID.

She worked at the time at Pochentong. I had to wait until her day off on Sunday when she came into town with her ID to help me. It was quite involved they cancelled her (my) account and got her to sign that she had cancelled her account. They then set up a new account in my name and transferred the number to the new sim with my details. It cost me two moto dop trips and a lunch! :D
