How much is it costing a average Khmer to live monthly?
What is average wage, food, housing costs?
How different do you live from the average?

I live on $250-350 a month. Cook my own food, never eat out, never really hangout, run the AC all night, and commute 20km a day. $40 a month in fuel, $100 for electricity, and $100-200 in food and consumables. Rent taken care of by company, but I used to rent my own place at $200 a month.

I'm told I live on "skinny" American wages by the Khmer I work with, and they expected me to spend a lot more than I do.

Most expats I know spend upwards of a $1,000-$2,000 a month.

It is/was part of my wages. Boss owns one of those condo type buildings, so I currently have a free room.

Hard to say what the average is. I'm a single family man (it's complex) We all eat and pay for electricity, I suppose the biggest factor is rent. I've paid from $150 -$550 for rent, so a typical month could be anywhere from $545 -$945 including food, fuel and utilities. I rarely go out and if I do it costs about $5 for 5 beers :) I always save about half my pay in the Bank of Heng.
