New study reveals ancient site treasures
Experts have discovered more than 120 archaeological sites and three ancient locations in the Royal Academy of Cambodia Techo Sen Russey Trep Park in Preah Vihear province.

The work was carried out by the Royal Academy of Cambodia’s working group and the Institute of Culture and Fine Arts. The findings were revealed on Monday by Royal Academy president Sok Touch at a workshop.

He said the latest research discovered 124 archaeological sites including 43 smelting sites, 17 sites in the Trapaing Sanlong area and 64 ancient pond sites.

Among the major smelting sites in Chhaeb district, there were five sites with hundreds of cubic metres of slag mixed with pieces of ceramic, nails, knives, axes and many other metal objects.

Royal Academy of Cambodia Techo Sen Russey Trep Park covers an area of 114.35 square kilometres Chhaeb I and Chhaeb II communes in Chhaeb district. It was established by royal decree in 2014.
