Original documents required
Just wanted to update a few things to PSD-Kiwi’s excellent guide on how to marry a Cambodian.
Apparently the local government wants everything in original documents, including the criminal background check. Original means having a raised seal. If what you have doesn’t have a raised seal, your embassy can ‘notarize’ it with a seal which is acceptable. $50 for each document notarized at the US embassy. $100 for the initial eligibility to marry certificate from the US embassy.
Embassy appointments are made online. Need 2 forms of photo ID (passport and driver’s license) and a printout of the appointment, in order to get in.
Photos need to be Cambodian sized. Standard passport photos are too big. Stopping by a local copy shop or having a ruler and scissors handy fixes the problem.
Ministry of foreign affairs prefers three pay check stubs in addition to a letter of minimum income. Check stubs don’t need to be certified. Didn’t have this. Promised to bring it on interview day with the Ministry of Interior. There is a short interview with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs when the application is submitted.
Going through a fixer. Didn’t actually need to go to Calmette for the marriage certificate, he would provide, but did so just in case. Takes about 24 hours turnaround, price is now $113 for both.
Fixer says that the paperwork is sent to the ministry on Friday and if I waited until Friday, (and changed my flight to Monday) then I could do the interview with the Ministry of Interior at that time. Not happening. Interview on the next trip.

'cambodian' sized photos? There are many sizes on offer, just like anywhere. Do you mean passport size or the smaller ones?

Re: Original documents required
Most passport photos are 35mm x 45 mm. Except for US passport photos, they are almost double the size of everywhere else.
That's what he means.

Smaller ones. Passport sized is too large. Had to be cut down to size after arrival. Fortunately there didn’t seem to be the onerous rules that the passport photos have - ie, head must be of specific size, etc.

Nope, seems he meant the small ones, that are smaller than Aus/UK requirements

Re: Original documents required
All documents must be original, and the ones specified must be notarized/certified by your Embassy...that is stated on the list of documentation required which you get from the MoFAIC, and is mentioned in the guide I posted.Apparently the local government wants everything in original documents, including the criminal background check. Original means having a raised seal. If what you have doesn’t have a raised seal, your embassy can ‘notarize’ it with a seal which is acceptable.
MoI don't want to see pay slips...they just want the letter from your employer which confirms your salary.Ministry of foreign affairs prefers three pay check stubs in addition to a letter of minimum income.
