Big rain last night!

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Big rain last night!

Post by newkidontheblock »

Breezed into Koi coffee yesterday after an afternoon at Calmette. While enjoying a milk tea, the heavens opened up. Heavy rain, winds, the whole bit. Windows at Koi leaked, and it turned into a multi hour , 3 tea ordeal. During the first downpour, the street flooding started. Water got up to knee high on the street, saw more than a few motos stall. Had crazy expats bicycle through, and a some old lady push a good cart through. The water just grew. Covered the street, covered the sidewalk. Only receded after a few hours. Interestingly, the locals take off their flip flops during heavy rain and walk barefoot in the water.

If street flooding is this bad after only an afternoon rain, what’s going to happen during rainy season?

Must have been very local storm as we had almost no rain in Takhmau, just 12 km from PP.

There was a heavy rain around midday and then a huge storm around 3.00.

That's because flip flops can easily float off in floods.

It is the rainy season, and that was particularly heavy rain.

Rainy season is May to November. We're almost a third of the way in already.
