Belgian expat VAN HOOF ALFONS FRANCISCUS Dies from a Stroke in Siem Reap

SIEM REAP - Police reported this evening that a foreign man was pronounced dead at about 1:30 pm on June 15, 2018 in his home, the house belonging to Sros Srey Mom in Kork Thnot village, Kandek commune, Prasat Bakong district, Siem Reap province.
The deceased has been identified as VAN HOOF ALFONS FRANCISCUS, a retired man, born in 1953 in Belgium. He was living in Siem Reap province with his wife, a 44 year old Cambodian woman named Sros Srey Mom, 44, and the couple have a young son.

According to the research of the competent authorities and Dr. Ith Chor Chhour, the police medical team concluded that the victim died as the result of a cerebrovascular accident caused by high blood pressure.

The body was transferred to a temporary shelter at the Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital, Phnom Penh, at the request of the family.

RIP. I’ve never met him, he was a long term expat and was quite prominent on SR fb pages. He just became father of a baby boy a few months ago. I believe he was a nice man... Condolences to the family!
