CMAC Official Hit by Battambang Train
June 8, 2018
CMAC official injured in train accident
A Cambodian Mine Action Centre official was slightly injured after his truck was struck by a train on Wednesday in Battambang province.
Pang Heang, chief of Battambang city police, said that the CMAC official was injured and the truck seriously damaged in the collision.
“The train was heading from Battambang to Banteay Meanchey province. It was carrying both passengers and goods,” he said. “At the traffic scene, there is an office of CMAC into which there is a small road that the train cross, that’s where the accident happened.”
CMAC director-general Heng Ratana could not be reached for comment, but said on Facebook that the official is recovering.
“There was no sign at the crossing and there was no safety boom barrier when the train was crossing,” he said. “The train did not honk a warning.”
Mr Heang said that that crossing does not need a barrier because the road is only used by CMAC officials.
