Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Officials are really having to defend the Chinese at the moment aren’t they....

Surely they will not like having to do this for too much longer.

Immigration police from the Interior Ministry yesterday detained about 30 foreign nationals suspected of violating immigration laws in areas across Phnom Penh.

Chea Chetra, chief of compliance procedure with the municipal police, said that along with immigration and court authorities, foreign nationals were found to have committed violations in four different locations in several districts.

Mr Chetra said that during the operation, police found five Korean nationals in Villa 44 in Tuol Kork district’s Boeng Kak II commune who had no passports.
The men were detained and sent to the general immigration department for processing, he said, noting that the authorities also separately detained 31 Chinese nationals over immigration violations and online fraud schemes.

“For the second location located in a condo in Boeng Keng Kang 1 commune in Chamkar Mon district, we found 31 Chinese nationals, including four women, suspected of VoIP fraud, and we found 56 Chinese passports,” he said. “Those people were sent to the general immigration department to be processed.”
