What, if any UK immigration issues for a Khmer girl
For various reasons, a more permanent move to Cambodia is on hold.
However, the woman that I met in PP and I have become quite a lot more serious, and a few things for future planning come to mind. Which I'm dealing with from the UK at present, due work commitments.
I'd be interested to hear from any of you originally from the UK (or Ireland, for that matter, as I have dual citizenship) regarding any pitfalls in the UK visa process, or any guidance that may help in the application process.
-As I understand it, Cambodians need TB screening.
-We're working on Passport issues for her right now. But with regards children, I gather that it's not uncommon to have limited birth records. If this has been encountered and overcome by any of you, advice would be gratefully received.

what has children got to do with getting her a visa?
if you are planning to bring them all over I doubt they will let her in unless you can prove some substantial history together, not just some quick shag and the skype for example.

- Funds for trip
- Sponsor for trip
- Stable job proof
- Assets (land/house etc)
these are the most important factors.
If all of those boxes are ticked you should be good to go for a short term visa, if not you will struggle.
Children complicate the matter more.

not impossible but heard a lot of people having difficulty,
youve basically got to convince them that she will be leaving after her planned trip, by proving she owns land back in Cambodia or something similar, and have to prove a legitimate relationship between you both,
i know Khmers who actually have businesses and land here and still get complications sometimes, but not impossible just might take a couple of attempts until they have enough information to convince them,

if/when they reject your application. They do give you a list of everything you failed on. Then you can use this list next time to pass.
Not the slickest way to go about it but it does work in practice.
They will also look into you. If you have no ties to Cambodia there is no reason to believe that your girlfriend will not just sever hers and just stay.

In the early 2000's there was major campaign supported by NGO's to provide everyone lacking a birth certificate with one. I don't think the birth certificates will be the problem. If a birth certificate is lacking but the birth has been recorded at the local sangkat then a copy of the certificate can be obtained there.Freightdog wrote: ↑Wed May 30, 2018 2:57 pm For various reasons, a more permanent move to Cambodia is on hold.

Birth certificates from her children are not needed unless you want the whole family to come. There's no way they're going to allow that.

If its anyway like it is in Thailand. Best to pay an agent whom specialises in this. Its worth the money. That is what is missing from the list of what you need! Monies and more monies.
Always "hope" but never "expect".
