Is Cambodia becoming like 'land of Smiles?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

the kind you probably wouldn't last 30 minutes, but who knows. But whatever keep believing they're all nice polite people, after one of them tried to kill me, I kind of lost that assumption.
Btw before you start coming up with theories, the reason she tried to kill me was romantic.
"Countless hours in real Khmer neighborhoods" 🤣

I've rented 4 different apartments the last 10 years.. all in "working class" Khmer neighborhoods. Never saw a barang in any of the neighborhoods those apartments were located in.. and would you believe it - I actually lasted more than 30 minutes!! I'm still alive and well.

But who am I kidding? That doesn't mean anything.. It's not like anyone has ever kept it realer in Cambodia than you right? Nobody knows Cambodia and Cambodians better than you I'm sure.

Or maybe.. just maybe.. Kayve's quote above is a more likely explanation for why you seem to keep having bad experiences with people whereever you go?
I mostly hang with khmer people too, mostly as a whole they are very good people.
