Late night Phnom Penh?

This is the part of the forum where we discuss Cambodia's nightlife! While most bars, nightclubs, pubs, beer gardens, and hostess bars are in Phnom Penh, we discuss the Cambodian nightlife across all of Cambodia, including Siem Reap, Kampot, and Sihanoukville. The main nightlife areas in Phnom Penh are on Street 136, Street 130, Street 110 and Street 51, but there are other party spots that aren't girlie bars where expats, tourists, and locals drink until the sun comes up. Feel free to post specials and promotions that relate to nighttime fun!

Late night Phnom Penh?

Post by cautious colin »

I am a bit of an earlybird (or boring cunt depending on your viewpoint) but occasionally fancy a late one.

The problem that I face is I don't really go to girl bars or clubs, which rules out a lot of options.

Are there any decent bars in Phnom Penh that are open late (past 1/2am) that fit the criteria.

Maybe the new GSM will be an option but more likely it will turn into the old GSM in no time.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks :beer3:

That's a given, it's had a nice facelift but Pasteur (almost all between 154 and 174) has always attracted loads of vice. There are plenty of normal bars and restaurants around which shouldn't be too hard to find, but it's not really a late night town.

I like to go skinny dipping off of Chroy Chongva bridge at 1:00 AM every night. If you land on a Cham house boat they usually give you some prohok and invite you to sleep over.

No problem finding decent bars during the normal hours (Russian market, bassac lane & surrounding areas, st 278, 21 Bar etc but not many that stay open past 12.

Why is it? Is it a license thing/owner choice /noise complaint (assume this one is unlikely)

There are a couple of nightclubs that do stay open but those are the ones where the Khmer rich kids play, and let their bodyguards finish the fights they start. Everyone else goes to bed early.

Well the sports bar in 172 closes most of the time after 2, i even went there few times before 2am and found it closed although there was important champions league games, that was back in November last year, not sure if things changed recently.

Oscar's is the hostess bar you have when not having a hostess bar.

I'm coming late to this discussion (it was suggested as a related thread to something I just asked), but two places that I know are open later are the Hops Craft Brewery on Street 222 between 51 and 55, and the Sky Bar at the Hotel Lumiere on Street 55 between 222 and 240.
