China to help install security cameras nationwide in Cambodia

China to help install security cameras nationwide
Zhao Kezhi, China’s Ministry of Public Security, vowed to help Cambodia install CCTV security cameras across the Kingdom during his meeting with General Neth Savoeun, chief of Cambodia’s National Police on Saturday, May 12.
The surveillance should help relieve traffic congestion, and will allow a data base to accumulate for the investigation of criminal cases.
China is pleased with the present video surveillance system in Phnom Penh, which helps augment security in the capital. The system encompasses nigh on 1000 cameras and was financed with government money and donations from Vietnam and China.
Mr Kezhi was very clear about Cambodia’s need to attack the project of covering the provinces with CCTV by dividing it into phases, and not trying to do too much too fast.
Lt. Gen. Chantharith confirmed that “We have no security cameras in the provinces yet; we plan to install them [first] in Siem Reap and Preah Sihanouk provinces.”
