Suspect arrested for shooting cop in revenge case
14 May 2018
Police in Prey Veng province’s Ba Phnom district yesterday arrested a man accused of shooting a district police officer on Thursday, resulting in the cop’s hospitalisation.
Mr Chivi said that the suspect, Sou Seith, was motivated by revenge, but would not detail the history between the two men.
“The motive behind the shooting is revenge,” he said. “Revenge for some problems that we should not talk about right now.” Mr Chivi noted that the suspect has been jailed in the past.
“I can just tell you that the suspect and victim are not really friends at all,” he said. “According to our identification records, the suspect is a former prisoner and was just released from prison a month ago.”
“We don’t have much information from the victim, who is being treated at the hospital,” he added.
