Contaminated water killing Kratie villagers

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Not even an animal would drink water from that stream.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Now we're getting closer to the truth.

Unlikely that everyone affected had been drinking rice wine, or am I missing a subtlety in your comment?
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

I really don't know v, but when there are mass deaths in rural areas it's often related to ricewine.
It may very well turn out to be from pesticide run-off into the stream, but with the volume of water running in the stream it would require quite a significant quantity of pesticide.
As someone asked earlier, "what's upstream"? Gold mines? I don't know.

Personally I find it hard to believe people were ill because of contaminated water. The rains kicked in about 11 days ago (more than a week before the first illnesses appeared), so I expect all houses to have fresh clean rainwater in their concrete jars....... No need to carry water from the stream for use at home.

My bet is rice-wine with ethanol and a cover up by the authorities.
