There is no air pollution in Phnom Penh

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

There is no air pollution in Phnom Penh

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

There is no air pollution. It seems that someone has suggested there may be a problem. But, no.

No air pollution in PP, ministry says
May 5, 2018
The Environment Ministry rejected the claims that Phnom Penh is suffering from serious air pollution, which is detrimental to people’s health. It asked the public to not be concerned about this issue.

On Friday, May 4, the ministry issued a statement rebutting claims that the capital has an air pollution problem. These claims have caused some unease, especially among tourists and open-air vendors, as to possible affects to their health.

The ministry stated that since 2003 it monitors air quality in larger cities, like Phnom Penh, to ensure public health.

It has installed equipment to monitor air-borne fine particulate matter that may contribute to respiratory complaints. All parameters showed that there is no heavy air pollution in Phnom Penh or other cities.

Thank god for that! So that big garbage dump fire is completely out and did not spew any carcinogens into the air?! Great news indeed!

Are they sure the monitoring equipment is plugged in?

No air pollution in Sihanoukville either. That smell of burning plastic every morning and every evening is just an illusion. :(

tbf, Phnom Penh has relatively good air. That may change with all these high-rise buildings.

I remember driving from Pattaya to Bangkok...huge power station on the way, little wind...terrible haze, never saw anything like that here. But give it time...

I'm more worried about noise pollution and the driving, tbh.

And the people eating in the riverside restaurants would think the smell was coming from their happy pizza.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
