Phnom Penh: 3 thieves were arrested for five phone snatching attacks on Chinese tourists, on April 28, in front of Naga World, Sangkat Tonle Basak, Phnom Penh. The suspects have been identified as Kong Rotanak called Vy, 17 years old, Yan Sanday, 16 years old, and Chay Luy, 18 years old.


After their arrest, the three suspects confessed, that in just one day, they had conducted five phone snatching operations against Chinese people in the Tonle Bassac area of Phnom Penh on April 28, 2018. Only one attempt had failed.

1st case: At 4:30 pm, the suspects snatched a VIVO phone from Chinese man while he was talking on phone in front of Chne Meas Spa, Sangkat Tonle Basak, Phnom Penh.

2nd case: At 4: 17 pm, the suspects tried to snatch Iphone 6 from Chinese man while he was using the phone but they were able to take it, near Sne Meas Spa in Sankat Tonle Basak, Phnom Penh.

3rd case: At 4:15 pm, the suspects snatched an Oppo phone from a Chinese women while she was walking and talking on phone in Sangkat Tonle Basak, Phnom penh.

4th case: AT 5:05 pm, the suspects snatched an Iphone 8 Plus from a Chinese man while he was in the tuk tuk on Pheah Norodom boulevard, Sankat Tonle Basak, Phnom Penh.

5th case: At 5:15 pm, the suspects snatched an iPhone 6s from Chinese man with his kid in the tuk tuk on street 249, Sangkat Tonle Basak, Phnom Penh.

The police confiscated a ZoomerX motorbike, Suzuki Let Motorbike, 1 iPhone 8 plus, 1 iPhone 6s, 1 oppo phone and 1 Vivo phone. The suspects remain in detention while the police are preparing to submit the case to court.

I suppose the cops drug tested them, but the results were negative since nothing is mentioned.
