I hope this guy does not lose his job then.

Re: Phnom Penh: Airport trains to be ready by Khmer New Year
Train services are expected to be extended to Pursat from 29 May, then to Bat Doeng - and finally Phnom Penh - by the end of the year. Looks like there won't be connections with Thai trains at Poipet until then.

The new trains for the Phnom Penh airport shuttle are looking good, and ready to ship out to Cambodia, after they undergo factory testing.
Royal Railway Cambodia posted these photos, direct from the factory in Mexico, on their social media page today.
Reminder: The airport shuttle (using the old trains) remains a free service until 1 August 2018, when it will become paying.

Re: Phnom Penh: Airport trains to be ready by Khmer New Year
Update to the above: Phnom Penh to Poipet trains are now running three days a week in each direction. They won't be breaking any speed records at 14 hours, but back in 2006/7 before they stopped running it took more than 24 hours just from Battambang to PP.timmydownawell wrote: ↑Mon Apr 30, 2018 9:42 am Train services are expected to be extended to Pursat from 29 May, then to Bat Doeng - and finally Phnom Penh - by the end of the year. Ready to go.
All 3 Phnom Penh airport shuttle trains are at the port getting ready to load onto the ship to Cambodia. This video shows one of them leaving the factory in Mexico.

There doesn't appear to be a spot for the whistle-blower at the front ...stand by for some accidents, especially as these go faster.

Re: Phnom Penh: Airport trains to be ready by Khmer New Year
Free airport train services continue until November. The new carriages are expected to be in place by then.
Rail cars en route to Kingdom
29 August 2018
Three new train carriages ordered from Mexico for the Kingdom’s rail services will arrive in October, an executive of Royal Railways said.
The Royal Group subsidiary, which in 2010 won a 30-year concession to operate and upgrade the Kingdom’s rail network, began running a new service in mid-April from the capital’s city centre to Phnom Penh International Airport.
Though the new carriages were expected in June, Royal Railways CEO John Guiry said on Tuesday that delivery had been pushed back four months. However, he said the carriages were soon to be put on a ship bound for the Kingdom.
“The carriages have left the factory in Mexico and are now at the port, ready to be shipped. They could take between six and eight weeks to arrive and should be here in mid- or late-October,” he said.
Guiry said two of the three new carriages will be used for the airport route, while the third will be used occasionally on the Poipet- and Sihanoukville-bound journeys.
Fares have been waived until the end of October for the train route to the airport. But Guiry declined to disclose the fares that would be charged from November.

Re: Phnom Penh: Airport trains to be ready by Khmer New Year
So is the airport train running anymore? I’m not hearing as many whistles from my apartment and when I went out to the airport last night, the station train track gates were closed and station lights were off?

Free train ride this Khmer New Year
The Royal Railway and Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced that train rides from April 14, Sunday to April 16, Tuesday will be free of charge in celebration of the Khmer New Year.
Royal Railway Chief Executive Officer John Guiry said passengers would still need to book their tickets either online, or at the station offices, but the ticket would be issued at zero cost.
“It’s a small gesture to help our customers celebrate the New Year and to show our commitment to providing a service that helps reduce road congestion over the holiday period,” Mr Guiry said.
Royal Railway CEO further said that “a major highlight is the arrival of our new imported trains for the Airport Shuttle and passengers can take a free test ride over the three-day holiday.”
