New IPO worth watching... GoPro

The popularity of GoPro videos is surging, and likely will continue to do so in the age of social media and viral videos. GoPro has been doing well at updating their tech frequently as well...

Definitely a hot company right now...until the Chinese, Taiwanese, Koreans, etc. start copying their gear and sell at half the price. Oh wait, they would never do anything like that!
That would be a great product to import and sell here. Hmm...

Not sure if there's a lot of room for expansion. They basically sell a single product (well, a few different models of the same product) and overpriced accessories which are readily available from other companies for much cheaper. Tons of people also make their own accessories (DIY projects). Will they continue to sell well? Of course. I'm just not sure it's a really interesting long-term buy. They'd need to innovate beyond just upping the pixels and resolution. I mean, their latest camera is 4K. Who the fuck needs that? Almost no one that's who. They've cornered a pretty niche market (sports enthusiasts and so on), but many competitors are also doing ok. I guess they might sell more as developing countries start showing an interest, but the average consumer simply doesn't want or need a GoPro (and there are already several cheaper options out there which are just as good). I personally wouldn't buy except for a short-term trade. .

Where on Monivong, and how much more $ than the US/online?OrangeDragon wrote:the camera shop on monivong already does.

I think you should have one turned on 24/7! Videos of your WMD testing on the beach; ambulance rescues; brawls and SUV bashing; Cambod teabagging while you're asleep; etc.

A few shops carry it, but if I recall correctly, the best one is the shop on Monivong with the Nikon sign outside. On the eastern side of Monivong, just before Monireth. Hmmmm, maybe just before Kampuchea Krom? Nah, pretty sure it's just before Monireth (near Central Market). Very well-priced and they also carry a small range of accessories. That being said, I find the best place for accessories is Aliexpress. Dirt cheap.
