Re: Opening a Hostel in Cambodia
hostels in KoW are often terrible environments, plus your competing with alot of Khmer business owners for a measly 5$ a night / private rooms.
its just a bad business venture, your better just playing roulette.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. We can probably attract groups of Chinese like they do in Thailand. I took my wife to Thailand and we met a group of Chinese tourists on a group tour. They really tend to do package tours like that.Having a Chinese wife may well prove an asset here. I recently saw a for sale sign on a hostel on St.172 that is or was run by a Japanese guy that wears fishnet stockings. It's a great location for backpackers, but don't forget to factor in a low season.

But do we need to pay any official tax when having a visible business in Cambodia ?
ONLY MONKEYS THINK THAT I AM NOT LIVING IN CAMBODIA BECAUSE I USE VPNs and PROXIES.
Sorry but I do not reply to idiots, especially the old ones.

Chinese do NOT stay in Hostels in Thailand or Cambodia, they stay in groups in 2-3 star Chinese owned hotels

I've met/drank with Chinese in hostels in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia before,
why do you state your opinion as a fact?
i used to stay in a Hostel in BKK right next to the victory monument whenever i needed to get a minivan from the monument/Bus from Mo Chit or flight from Don Muang Airport first thing in the morning and id need to stay over in BKK (i just avoid BKK now and just get taxis)
but that place was always full of Chinese travellers probably on a ratio of 75% Chinese, 25% Thai or Foreign, used to be a nice as its a long way away from the backpacker districts so was quiet and peaceful with no riff raff

Not sure of your age but the demographics of hostels is primarily under 35, and mostly 20's.AmericanSteve wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 10:35 am I want to open a hostel with my Chinese wife in a year .......
but I'm not sure I want to end my days in China.
Any advice
How in touch with this demographic/target market are you?
