Why has the Chinese guy got 10 mobile phones and 17 ATM cards? Sounds rather suspect...

I'm sure it has nothing to do with those VoIP scams that the Chinese are always getting busted for.simon43 wrote:Why has the Chinese guy got 10 mobile phones and 17 ATM cards? Sounds rather suspect...

Pretty sure the last lot of locals pinched had a table full of phones, and they were mere pickpockets. I'm going with phone thief for the double number score, please.

A 29-year-old Ukrainian tourist has been arrested and charged on Tuesday by a provincial court prosecutor for allegedly stealing the properties of a Chinese businessman in the province of Preah Sihanouk.
According to Heang Kosal, a police officer with the Preah Sihanouk provincial crimes investigation department, the suspect was identified as Voloymer Behal, 29, a tourist from Ukraine. He was charged with “theft” and faces punishment of six months to three years in prison.

How come, as a foreign criminal, he was released from jail in Cambodia and not deported after his sentence for theft ? Money, I guess. TIC.CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 5:59 pm Ukrainian tourist charged for theft

Anyway, the suspect is a Ukrainian national and his name is Voloymer (Vladimir?) BEHAL, and he's a thief, for information in case you have a guesthouse/restaurant/bar in Kampot.
Good find CN.

My impression is that most foreign criminals don't get deported.Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 8:04 pm

I, for one, am becoming increasingly concerned about all the foreign crap thats being let into the country. Does't matter how long we have lived here or what our personal situation is, bottom line is we are only guests in this wonderful country.
For the many good expats who live here I just hope and pray that Cambodia does not become another Thailand where basically you need to win the lottery to enable you to stay.
