Where can I find Pita in Phnom Penh or Kampot?

Post by whiteribbon »

Don't know the English name for this kind of fast food, but in my birth country it's just called a Pitta and you can find it on every corner, usually served with loads of garlic sauce and a bit of salad. Had a craving for it since a couple of days but a quick google didn't deliver me any results. Any idea where I can find this in PP or Kampot?

Kebab, schwarma and gyro are a few other names for it.

There's at least one place in Kampot, and a few in PP...fucked if I can remember the names though, hopefully someone else can.

To me, Pita is the name of the bread.

Thanks PSD, googled all 3 names in combination with pp and kampot but still nothing showed up like my pictures. Was already thinking it might be one of these things they pass of as greek or turkish food in my country while nobody there has actually eaten something similar. Bit like the Chinese restaurants, took my Chinese friend once to my favourite chinese restaurant there and he didn't recognise 1 dish on the menu. But still, if anyone else has has a tip, let me know!

Thanks, googling doner kebab delivered me some more results, guess I'll have to make a quick trip to PP for it.

Probably not as good as I remember it to be but after a 10 year abstinence your mind can play strange tricks on you.

Check this link. You'll find plenty of pitta, shawarma, and other stuff in PP.

There is a stall outside Oh Neil's sometimes selling shawarma. Opens at night.

It is chicken instead of lamb/beef. But most of the ones you will find in SEA are.
