Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

My missus sent me photos and video earlier. As usual: fire brigade took ages to arrive and initially just arrived with two engines. This delay, and the ensuing discussions about how much the owners are willing to pay for the service, meant the thing was fully ablaze by the time they started tackling the blaze.

I saw this a couple of years ago when three units arrived after 15 min and when the agreement was reached on payments they all buggered off to get water. The property was completely gutted by the time they got back 20 mins later. (they all came back together so waited until all were full before returning) and the owner said forget it its too late but he had to pay them for the water anyway.
Probably the most crazy thing I have seen in KoW.

I didn't know that was still a thing in Cambodia. The only fire I've witnessed here was the Phsar Chas fire, and the fire brigade was very efficient and seemed to use absolutely all resources available.

We have few enough fine art/cultural centres here, and now this is damaged :(

I vaguely recall a press release about 18 month sago in which HE told people the Fire Dept should do their job first and then ask for payment, iirc it was connected to a fire in Chbar Amphul
