This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

What happens to the people whose visa expires next month and they haven't received they're WP even if they applied on time?
Does the employment letter have to be stamped from a Cambodian registered company?
There's an option on the online WP application to get a "freelancer" WP, but if you also need a Cambodian-registered employer, that seems to be redundant?

You can only apply for a 'freelancer WP' if you do freelance work for Cambodian registered companies. If you do freelance work for non registered or foreign parties you are not eligible for a WP.

at least this what the guy at the ministry told me in Jan / Feb.

It may have been last month to give a little breathing time for some nationalities who may not have received their work permits.
Before it was wp and business cert. Change every few months now.
It's like it is in Thailand now............. Always changing

Now you can apparently get a self-employed freelance work permit.

long extensions & tourists visas in Thailand are the same as they have been for decades..
the only things that change are the visa exempts and number of tourist visas allowed.

But if you need an kh-registered employment letter, what's the point?
Seems there's still no solution for freelancers working for foreign clients, or remote workers (employed by foreign company, living in Cambodia).
