New drug task force for Cambodia's airports
Government to create drug task force for airports
2 March 2018
Cambodia’s anti-drug bureau wants to create a specialised task force to check for drugs at airports and ports.
At a meeting to discuss the idea yesterday, Meas Vyrith, secretary-general for the National Authority for Combating Drugs, said air and sea were the two most common pathways for drugs into the Kingdom.
According to Vyrith, a task force would allow law enforcement to better gather and share information with other countries in line with international agreements. “In other countries in the region, they all have these teams, but Cambodia is still checking and discussing this,” Vyrith said.
Drug checks at the airport are currently conducted by a combination of National Police and airport security.

Where do Cambodian drugs come from ?
The domestic meth market seems to be supplied mainly overland from the Laos border. Heroin too,I suppose. Most of the airport busts seem to be drugs (mostly cocaine) in transit destined for elsewhere. Haven't heard about any busts at Sihanoukville port, strangely enough.
Not many cases of Cambodian meth labs reported either. Surely some enterprising four-stars must have looked into this ?
I vaguely remember one case of a high-up person who was said to be involved in fabrication a few years ago. Does anyone remember what happened to him?

here is where they are WRONG<
I'd say most drugs come in overland from Laos/Thailand"At a meeting to discuss the idea yesterday, Meas Vyrith, secretary-general for the National Authority for Combating Drugs, said air and sea were the two most common pathways for drugs into the Kingdom."
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Absolutely, I would be surprised if even 10% comes through the airport and seaport combined.phuketrichard wrote:here is where they are WRONG<I'd say most drugs come in overland from Laos/Thailand"At a meeting to discuss the idea yesterday, Meas Vyrith, secretary-general for the National Authority for Combating Drugs, said air and sea were the two most common pathways for drugs into the Kingdom."

Re: New drug task force for Cambodia's airports
Why bother with customs when one can so easily walk/ drive across the border at unpoliced points?
