Woman Was Killed by Her Brother While Sleeping in a Hammock

Kampong Thom: On March 2, a woman was killed by her mentally ill brother, at her father's house in Khnay Tong Village, Baray District, Kampong Thom.
The killer, 47 year old Sok Meun, is the victim's older brother. He was living with his parents and he has had a mental illness since he was young. The victim, Sok Yeun, was 38 years old,and she had a husband,Chan Choy, and two children.

The murderous incident occurred without warning. After the family had finished lunch, the victim was sleeping peacefully in the hammock, when her brother picked up a knife and an axe and proceeded to chop the victim's head, face and hands while she was sleeping. The woman was severely wounded, and died almost immediately.

The crazed brother was restrained by the family, and the police were called to take him away. The dead woman's body was prepared for traditional funeral rites.
