I got shut down a few times for various reasons, very inconvenient, especially when the Sangkat chief didn't show up for our meetings so the delays got blown out even longer. Had to pay my downstairs neighbours for some damage/cracks caused by vibrations/demo work and their "hurt feelings". But since I moved in we have made up and have great relations now. I would never have believed it then.

My tip to a barang doing renovations is never ever go to Sangkat, have it all done by a Khmer (i.e. your partner/wife/nominee).
