I wish to open a cafe, help!
I wish to open a cafe, help!
Hi everyone!
I'm new to this forum, it's nice to meet you guys ^_^
I am interested in opening a Cafe in Cambodia, Phnom Penh or Siem Reap, with a friend.
We understand the need to enter the market offering new cafe experiences with good tasting, good looking food and we will be looking into that (ideas welcomed!)
As both of us come from a design background, we aim to provide a more innovative and 'instagram-worthy' experience for tourist/ foodies/ youngsters.
Even before getting into how to go about getting visas and licenses, I hope to know more about the market there from your point of view!
So here comes my questions:
1. How feasible is this with our capital of potentially 40k that can streatch to 100k capital?
We have heard a good place to start is in the Riverside or Bkk district, what do you guys think?
2. Is there a demand for such cafes there?
Or is it already over crowded? Are people willing to spend more for an interesting cafe experience? Are you?
3. How popular is instagram/ social media among the locals?
How are businesses usually advertised over there?
4. Any other advises you can give me? Or maybe things I need to research on?
Thank you so much!
It's only the initial stages of our planning so any information or even opinions will help!

OP, seriously, rents are crazy in PP. A hole in the wall close to the riverside will set you back at least 1000 USD per month.
And I happened to visit a coffee-machine-selling-shop in Phnom Penh about 3 weeks ago (I thought they sold coffee......) and I was shocked by the prices on display.
