Bus hits child, driver doesn't do a runner but hides
Last night I was in the night bus from Ratanakiri to Phnom Penh. About 11 km out of Ban Lung the bus hit a child, or the child hit the bus. Apparently the child crossed the road to check out the wedding going on on the other side of the road, when the mother called the child to come back. The child immediately turned around, hitting the bus while running back home. At that time the bus was driving at about 60-70 km per hour not sure what happened to the child, but the child was taken to the hospital on a motorbike. Didn't look good.
Within no time the bus was surrounded by angry villagers, ready to give the driver the beating of his life. At first I thought the driver did a runner, but when I saw the driver later it turned out he didn't. He opened the door, switched of the engine, and hid in the bus, pretending to be a passenger while calling his office and asking for an ambulance (which didn't come of course).
To be honest, the events made me rethink about all the drivers doing a runner here.

Hiding is an SOP for all bus companies. It's what Giant Ibis staff did when my bus was in a major accident a few years ago. I do feel for the drivers though, so many idiots on the road (usually including themselves).
