Administration/Moderation Concerns?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I just want to be super clear about this. I agree 100% it's more professional to always include links to anything you consider a source. However, it's widely ignored, but huge sites, even legit news organizations. If any of you think Gavin brought up the issue for any other reason than to stir things up over here, you are very mistaken. He wants to come off as some sort of ethical practitioner, but come on, he's known for his trollish behavior on every website he can get on.

So there you have it. Yes, it would be great if we followed each and every guidline known to man, but we don't, and I'm sorry that some of you think it's the biggest travesty since Coca Cola changed their recipe, but do you really find yourself this concerned with every website, including The Old Forum, when they do things you don't agree with? Again, your opinions have been heard, and I'm agreeing that if we were the utmost respected news source in the world that I would make sure we do everything we can to provide exact sources for EVERYTHING we come up with, but we're not and we don't. I'm truly sorry that some of you only seem so bothered by it now that Gavin has brought it up again, but it's the way we do it, and you are ALWAYS free to spend your time to hunt down the news sources if you don't like the way we publish them.

As this was clearly started by Gavin, a hardcore khmer440 diehard, and the fact I've addressed this many times and it really comes down to us doing ONE thing in a fashion you don't like, we will have to delete any further comments on it, as every side of this debate has been given airtime, but this can't be allowed to continue, especially after I've already addressed it.

Again, thanks to those of you who actually aired your opinion and not just following Gavin around with his trolling, and it's been noted, but I just don't see how it's so upsetting to some, especially given that almost all news sites fail to provide proper citation (in my opinion), else we would be quoted in almost every story about the porno-dancing backpackers, but it's just not how it works.

If anyone honestly has feedback about this to help us improve CEO, you are encouraged to contact us privately, but this is just turning into a round and round bout, as we have heard all sides of the coin. So, don't be surprised when further comments on this exact same thing are deleted, and thanks for everyone's input, regardless.

Sorry that's not possible.

If you want to stop posting for some reason, then you just stop posting. We cannot delete posts as it messes with the flow of threads to have missing posts, or threads started by yourself which would then make no sense.

Anyway, we don't want you to stop because we want to see more about your building project in Kep, plus you have made positive input in BTC threads as well.

I hope you like Jackson Browne :beer3:

there is actually no easy way to do it without some sql knowledge that can cost a fair bit of money, please contact general mac directly by PM for this request.
i for one will be really sad to see you go as your building contributions are highly interesting.

Ok, thanks for the confirmation.
I didn't say I wanted to delete my profile right now, just wanted to know if the possibility was available.
I did find the shaming of people less fortunate than us in these past days a bit in bad taste. Also the bashing of dead people is rather pointless and makes my stomach turn to be honest. I already live here for a while so I know it's common in the press here but I thought we would hold up a different standard. But you're right, it's simple, if I don't like it I shouldn't visit any more and stop posting.

Actually, distasteful comments of the deceased should at least go in the Darknet Cambodia News forum, but we only have some of them in there.

The BEST thing you can do when you see a post like that which you think shouldn't be on CEO, you should report it and we'll look into it.

A lot of times I think a post can be borderline appropriate, and if a fellow CEO member or two report it, then we can probably know that some others in the community would also prefer it not be online.
