Unhappy Valentines Day for drunk boyfriend and girlfriend

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Phnom Penh: On February 14, a drunk Couple (boyfriend and girlfriend) got seriously injured in a car accident at Chroy Jangwa Bridge in Khan Chroy Jangwa, Phnom Penh.
A witness at the scene said that the couple were driving in a Lexus RX300, Plate no.Phnom Penh2U-3668 on Chroy Jongwa bridge from west to east at a very high speed. The car smashed into the road divider very hard, turning the vehicle over and catapulting the occupants of the car out on to the road, where they sustained significant injuries.

"The car smashed into the road divider very hard, turning the vehicle over and catapulting the occupants of the car out on to the road, where they sustained significant injuries." Seat belts might have been a good idea! Looks like the $6.25 fine is not working!

Traffic Law fines set. Chhay Channyda 08 July 2015
A sub-decree being drafted by the Interior Ministry is adding teeth in the form of markedly heavier fines to the Kingdom’s nearly 6-month-old, still yet-to-be enforced, Traffic Law.

Penalties for not wearing seatbelts in cars will be similarly hiked, from 5,000 riel ($1.25) to 25,000 riel ($6.25).

“The law says everyone must wear seatbelts including backseat passengers, but in principle, police will only implement the law against front seat passengers,” he said yesterday. “For safety, everyone in the car should wear seatbelts.” http://www.phnompenhpost.com/national/t ... -fines-set

Selling seatbelt loops on the side of the highways could be a good earner. After all, no one said the seatbelt has to be attached to anything..

There's at least 7 people in every Camry on the highway that don't have a seatbelt for themselves - the guy on the left of the driver, the guy on the center console, the kid through the sunroof, the kid standing on the front seat, the woman to the right of the front seat passenger, and the 2 extras in the rear.

Im sure that a Lexus RX300 would have had seatbelts attached for the two front occupants. However they may have taken them out and sold them! :D
