We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. A 42-year-old forest activist, Mr Leng has been an outspoken critic of the timber business networks.
Mr Leng said forests are a part of the heritage of ancestors left for the next generation, and must be protected. He said he has dedicated his life to environmental protection because no one else was standing up against the powerful government officials and business tycoons looting the country’s forests...

Guardians of environment among last to challenge regime
CHIANG MAI, Thailand -- Political opponents have been jailed or driven into exile, the media is muzzled and the voices of civil society are barely heard these days. Cambodia's authoritarian regime has swept clear the field of potential political rivals as Prime Minister HE prepares for general elections in July.

But among the silent majority, a few individuals have continued to speak out and act against the country's power brokers. These are the guardians of its increasingly devastated environment -- and they have paid a deadly price. Around 20 environmental advocates and campaigners have been killed in Cambodia since 2005 and others have been jailed, attacked or threatened with assassination.

One such activist is Ouch Leng who has been fighting against the rampant pillaging of forests he says is perpetrated by a ''business mafia'' in collusion with senior government officials. ''I am aware that I may not live much longer,'' he told the Nikkei Asian Review in a recent interview. ''But I will try to go on with my work in order to serve as a good model for young people, to engage people to protect the forests and environment."

Tell us again, how many coups has Thailand had? nearly a DOZEN successful ones, and many failed ones.

To be fair, he has also written about Myanmar and Thailand.

Edit: hey, guess who his father worked for? yes, the CIA, and not the school. Furthermore, his real name isn't even Denis Gray...and he was in military intelligence in the Indochina wars. Great recommendation to criticise others, LOL, pot calling all kettles.
