Homeless Scotsman in Siem Reap GARY MORENO Makes The News When Tourists Try To Help

Breaking news from Cambodia can be found here. CEO often finds Khmer news and translates it into English for our readers if it is interesting to expats, locals, Cambodians living abroad and anyone who wants to stay informed of the latest local and international news stories about Cambodia and our neighbors in South East Asia. There are many sources for Khmer news articles and they can all be found here in one place. Most of the media comes out of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap or Sihanoukville, but we cover national Cambodian news from all provinces.

I have only been a member here for a short while and when I joined it was because the forum was funny, had witty comments, was a source of information and a good general discussion forum. Lately it is full of sanctimonious know it alls who splutter bullshit and venom about subjects at random.

I now mark those I find meet this criteria as foes and just skip their drivel.

Anyone of these may feel free to do likewise to me.........please. =@ =@ =@
There have been members of 440 on this site from day one. Many of them have accepted and adopted the CEO style of things as compared to their former trolling grounds.
But, you are right. In recent months we seem to have attracted the final dregs, who never really wanted to be part of CEO, but have begrudgingly abandoned that sinking ship. Sadly, they have brought their 440 ways with them. Lots of baiting, flaming, trolling, one-upmanship, not to mention the tall tales of BS.

Time we started to rein them in I think.
Please PM any of the Mods here a copy of the names that you have foed recently. I'll bet they are probably already on 'the list'.

Siem Reap: A Cambodian man, Thon Mengheang, has posted on social media about the plight of a British homeless man from Liverpool (?) named Gary Moreno who has been in Siem Reap for three years.
Image
He lost his passport, and has become a homeless man. He would like to return to his home town in the UK, and requests the British Embassy of Cambodia for help.
For the time being Gary is living in Svay Pagoda in Siem Reap, where he is housed and fed. The British Embassy, or his family, can contact him there.

You can be a pretty decent moderator at times, as long as you're not protecting your mates. For instance, i agree with most of what you wrote above.

Yes, but what about Gary ? I thought that after that last international media outburst about 'Gary, Homeless Brit in Cambodia', that he was going home ?
But from the latest report, it looks like he's still stuck in Siem Reap, and he looks even worse than before. :(

It's possible that he says to kind souls who want to help that he wants to go home, but he doesn't really. In which case, can you force him ? He probably has no visa, but no one even wants to arrest him it seems.

Nearly every bar on sok san tried to help him out but gave up. Never takes his meds and instead prefers booze and drugs which makes his conditions even worse.
That's a lie.

Gary cannot afford his meds, who are you to tell the people about his condition?

Are you a doctor?
I'm a brain surgeon, and qualified psychiatrist of international repute.

I agree with L'Alegrino's diagnosis.

Next question?

I'm 99.9% certain this is our good ol' friend, Gary Moreno, the homeless Scotsman from Siem Reap who tourists keep trying to force their unwanted help upon.

Looks like he was in the mood for a vacation, and was headed to Thailand from Poipet, but passed out and didn't make it across the border:

Bonteay Meanchey: On February 9, an unidentified homeless foreigner (likely Garry Moreno) collapsed of physical disease near casino in Poipet.

Before the incident, the homeless foreigner was walking on the street without shoes . There was a girl who saw him and had pity on him, so she gave her shoes and 200 Baht to him.

The immigration police tried to help take the homeless man to shower and put medicine for ulcers on his arms and legs.
The victim seemed like he had amnesia or something, and the authorities were unable to question him yet, and they are not sure who he is or how he originally entered Cambodia.

What a miserable, slow fade out. The limping Gollum of Cambodia.
