Petrol prices up to $1 a litre

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Petrol prices up to $1 a litre

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cost of living prices are increasing and it has been announced that there will be a (temporary) rise in gasoline prices. More expensive gasoline at the pump may increase the price of your tuktuk. It will also encourage the blackmarket petrol vendors.

Regular gasoline continues to rise to 4,000 riel per litre
4 Feburary 2018
Gasoline prices in Cambodia continue to rise to 4,000 riels per liter for the next 10 days. According to a Ministry of Commerce statement on Thursday. From February 2 to 11, 2018 prices of gasoline sold at gas stations across the country will be sold at 4,000 riel per liter for regular gasoline and 3,800 riel for diesel fuel.

And here I was thinking it was because we live in a lawless shithole country where the people's indifference to laws and law enforcement was appropriately counter-balanced by the police departments corrupt and continued efforts to enrich themselves at the people's expense.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe people are just too lazy to drive around the block. :stir:

Motorists should drive without their headlights on , especially at night time. We all know that a moto that does not have to make electricity for the lights uses less petrol.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

I guess you're the only one unaware the Cambodian government will tax anybody driving a motorbike with their headlights on.

If you are referring to the law that says you cannot drive with lights on in the daytime that is supposed to have stopped at the last traffic law update. There was a post about it in CEO recently I think.
