Can I do the tourist visa extension myself?
Re: Can I do the tourist visa extension myself?
I was more concerned about paperwork required, more then price.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

two cents:
I would stick with a decent visa agent. Captain Immigration might just feel like making things inconvenient for you--just to show he cares.
If you do though, you might engage a hot mama in uniform somewhere up there.

Well, we do know that the real cost of a 1-year visa is less than $160.superferret wrote: ↑Fri Feb 02, 2018 8:17 pm2 dollars for Lucky Lucky seems fair, but we don't know what type of discount they're getting from immigration,
However, that is irrelevant, simply because they shut down anyone who offers it at $160. The price to most of us is around $300
For $2, just do it.

Official letter from employer containing the MoC stamp, if you’re a business owner create your own letter and submit along with copies of relevant operating licenses... that is all that is currently required.AndyKK wrote: ↑Fri Feb 02, 2018 5:33 pmOk! That being the agent price. What documentation is required. In KK I have been told by the agent I would need my passport, work permit, business licence, permit of stay, rent agreement, and so on.
I have all so no problem. But I was just wondering what other agents would ask for? And I have also been told some hike up the price with all the paperwork involved.
Anyone done this recently?
Re: Can I do the tourist visa extension myself?
Unless you know someone in immigration or are very good at standing your ground I would use an agent. immigration has a reputation for being difficult at the best of times. they were arseholes with us. Not worth the grief to save a few dollars
Re: Can I do the tourist visa extension myself?
I have intentions to use an agent due to it being easier. Whom would want to get involved with a day with immigration.

Funnily enough a while ago I had to go to MFA and same setup, tiny office with unpleasant and greedy toady. Went back 2 weeks ago, nice new office with counters and pleasant helpful staff quoting official prices and asking for nothing extra. Times are a changing. maybe immigration will be next

For the long term extensions it's definitely worth a few hours, especially if you have a motorbike, no big deal.AndyKK wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2018 10:47 pmI have intentions to use an agent due to it being easier. Whom would want to get involved with a day with immigration.
If we get this worked out and enough of us bother to go there and reports start going to anti-corruption about some of their practices, they'll find it too
inconvenient to deal with all the foreigners and complaints, and they'll just make it a fair process like in most other countries.
They're really being unkind right now with long term expats so the least they can do is eliminate all the corruption.
Where does all that money go in between the agent price and the official price?
