Network IP cameras
Re: Network IP cameras
I don't do DIY, hence my original question.
I tend to sleep in the nude. Which isn't a bad thing except for maybe on those long flights.

Re: Network IP cameras
if you want to be able to access it remotely a dedicated IP address is far superior to the dynamic dns services you will find advertised.
your installer should be able to advise you on that.

Re: Network IP cameras
the operative words being "find suitable cameras "Username Taken wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2017 11:22 am Ok, well here's a serious answer but probably not the answer you're looking for.
I would install Linux on a PC, then install Zoneminder. It's free, open-source. https://zoneminder.com/
Next go to a few shops and find suitable cameras for outdoors (that will work with zoneminder). Wireless would be better as there would be less cabling required.
DIY.
last i looked a while back this is the most difficult part
Re: Network IP cameras
another thing to if you put those cheap black webcams into the sun they will malfunction permanently in short shift
Re: Network IP cameras
As above but I would not use wifi. cable is more secure and not likely to suffer from interference. Camera Is of no use if its not sufficiently high quality to identify someone day or night and you need to store the images somewhere. Also be careful where you put them. you could upset your neighbours if its pointing off your property. if you want to get a good system pop into a newish hotel, see what they got and ask who fitted itUsername Taken wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2017 11:22 am Ok, well here's a serious answer but probably not the answer you're looking for.
