mental illness in Kampot
Aside from the ice fucked foreigners there are quite a few mad Khmer here.
Yesterday morning a mentally ill guy was sleeping on our doorstep of the shop. When i politely asked him to leave he retreated to the potted plants in the front and stared at us unwaveringly through the shrubbery like a wild thing for about 2 hours. Lady next door came along and turned the hose on him. He left pretty quickly and has not been back.
Some tuktuks and neighbors told us he regularly tries to grab little kids to sexually molest.
Surprisingly he is not driven away, but watched closely and i am told, beaten with a stick when he gets out of line.

I think there a few of them around (not just Kampot, they just blend into the madness of PP better). Most probably due to lack of mental health institutions or other aid being unavailable in the country.frank lee bent wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2018 3:55 pm Aside from the ice fucked foreigners there are quite a few mad Khmer here.

Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes

In PP you see a lot too, often these unfortunate souls get blamed for stuff they didn't even do. Like the molesting little kids part
could be completely fabricated. People like to make stories more interesting by making up stuff.

Re: mental illness in Kampot
If you look back at mental illness in the last 100 years, you will see that many WW1 and WW2 soldiers returned home with a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
It wasn't really bought to anyone's attention until after the Vietnam war and the Gulf war when they started helping these guys. Remembering that all these cases are mature men who had military training and knew what they were getting into.
Now look at the many mental cases you see around. Many of these were just innocent kids with immature brains during the Pol Pot years. There is no way of telling what they saw or went through , what experience they went through and have had to lock up in the back of their minds. After all these years later, where is the help for those kids,, now adults. Lets not just look at the nutcase person acting like a crazy person without looking at the cause.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Back in 1986 I was living in S.E London for a few years, lots of people walking the streets who clearly had mental health problems.
England just hasnt got the facilities to cope with all the people with mental issues.
