A military captain shot dead his pregnant wife and then turned the gun on himself following an argument in a beauty salon in Daun Penh district on Thursday afternoon, according to police. Eng Sorphea, chief of the municipal police serious crime bureau, said the incident happened around 4:40 p.m. in Golden Sorya Mall.

“I just know that before the event of shooting, they had argument with each other,” he said of the couple.

A statement on the National Police website named the shooter as 30-year-old Loch Vanna, who served as a military police officer at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, and the pregnant victim as 22-year-old beauty salon worker Tok Pheng, also known as Srey Lin, from Kampong Thom province.
