Why you should be depressed - Bacon is BAD.

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

It isn't, the 74 Percent actually refers to the Percent Daily Value (%DV) on the Nutrition Facts label. This is a guide to the nutrients in one serving of food. The 100g of bacon has 37g gram of protein which translates as 74% of the protein you need each day, assuming a 2000 calorie diet. Between 10 and 35 percent of your total calories should come from protein. DVs are based on a 2,000-calorie diet for healthy adults.

The point of my post was to refute the allegation that bacon contained 0% protein which is obviously false. The nutritional data was to illustrate just how much protein bacon contained. :D

We only eat bacon because it smells so good when it's grilling, not for any nutritional value i.e. it has zero protein.
Nutrition Facts Bacon, pan-fried
Amount Per 100 grams Protein 37 g 74%
Calories 541
% Daily Value*
Total Fat 42 g 64%
Saturated fat 14 g 70%
Polyunsaturated fat 4.5 g
Monounsaturated fat 19 g
Trans fat 0 g
Cholesterol 110 mg 36%
Sodium 1,717 mg 71%
Potassium 565 mg 16%
Total Carbohydrate 1.4 g 0%
Dietary fiber 0 g 0%
Sugar 0 g
Protein 37 g 74%
Vitamin A 0% Vitamin C 0%
Calcium 1% Iron 7%
Vitamin D 10% Vitamin B-6 15%
Vitamin B-12 20% Magnesium 8%
 Those no good fun-killers.
Almost a health food really - no sugar and no trans fats, lots of protein - and they say Vit B is good for drinkers.
Thanks Kuroneko. :beer3:
(And it smells good too.)
