Difficulty extending visas for staff from certain countries

Post by Citizen 1010 »

Wondering if anyone else is having difficulties getting visas extended for properly documented (tax payer, work permit, NSSF registered) employees from certain countries?

Is 'certain countries' a euphemism for 'shithole countries'?

Nigerians and Ghanaians seem to be particularly singled out. maybe Kenyans as well. SR airport often denies EB visas on arrival

SR denied me Eb in Februuary 2014 because I did not have a job contract. Even offering a facility payment failed to get me anywhere. . Local agent told me it was something to do with the local governor and advised me to fly out and come in again at PP. I think that was beginning of the work permit confusions. Went to bkk, flew back into pp got Eb no problem

Might be some practical reason for this. A year or 2 ago Africans were being charged $000's for the offer of a job and work permit here. They arrived and just got tourist visa an no job and eft to fend for themselves. Was reported in PP post I think, maybe the daily. Many did not have enough cash to get home and fell victim to further scams. End result a lot have been living off the proceeds of crime, perhaps unwillingly but what do you do in that situation? A network of criminals who keep getting caught becuas they are visible and add in the sudden arrival of a lot of African drug mules gives the authorities some justification for checking them more thoroughly
