Western style furniture
Can anyone recommend a place in PP, that sells western style furniture, such as recliners?

That's a very good question.
If Liberace had a furniture shop it would be on Monivong.
Finding decent furniture is one of my biggest challenges.

On the subject of furniture;
Do Cambodians truly like the 300# table you sit on to eat, the 240# sofa, the 120# chair,the 50# straight back dining chairs?
Durable it is. But a church pew is more comfortable. Or so I've heard.
Are they prestige, cultural or...something else?
I want a recliner too.

The biggest problem with ''western style furniture '' is they are usually vinyl or imitation leather on lounge suites and make you sweat unless the room is always air-conditioned. Plus if they are '' made in Asia '' the covering can be of such poor quality that it cracks after a few years of use. Not to mention the framework that you cannot see is likely to be a wood borers perfect dinner.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.

Still looking.... I know that furniture can be custom made by local craftsmen, but think the mechanical parts of a recliner would be difficult for them. I'm going to take some pictures to a local craftsman and see if it is possible. If I get anything positive, I'll post it here.

If you want European style furniture, I can recommend Display and Ichin. Never seen anybody use a recliner in europe so probably not gonna find it there but all other kinds of European style and quality furniture they have there. They're both in BKK1.
Display can also custom make furniture to your specifications. Display sells high quality copies of European designs adjusted to the temperatures and moisture here while Ichin sells the originals. There's one other design furniture shop close to phnom penh tower but can't immediately remember the name.

I found the type of furniture that I was looking for. Not cheap, but good quality recliners. Actually cost is in line with what I would expect to pay in the west, if you catch a sale there. Recliner frames are made in USA, and leather is from Italy. Factory is in Sihanoukville, and they export to the west.
