New drug rehab centre for Kampot
Drug rehab centre opens in Kampot
27 December 2107
KAMPOT - A new drug rehabilitation centre was opened in Kampot province’s Chumkiri district after two years of construction at a final cost of $109,799.
Pong Yut, provincial military commander, said that the new rehabilitation centre is small and can aid up to 100 patients at a time.
“It will help people in Kampot province who have family members addicted to drugs and want to find rehab services,” he said. “Before, they had to travel to a national rehab centre in Phnom Penh.”
Early this year, the National Authority for Combating Drugs announced that a new national rehab centre was being built in Preah Sihanouk province on a 20-hectare plot of land.
It will also be able to serve Kampot residents, and will be able to handle up to 2,000 patients battling drug addiction.

If the Chinese take over Kampot, people may start masquerading as methpats to get cheaper accommodation.

Silly, that place is for locals.
The Riverside PP, various side walks and formerly SHK was the pace for deathpats and the like.
I saw one local rehab center, not terrible, but they do have to wake up every morning in formation at around 7:30am, then head off to various classes, work, and activities. I think formation at lunch, too.
Every afternoon, I see them line up then play volleyball or split off into groups and watch. Lights out by 10pm, and soothing music heard late in the night, maybe from the guard.
They seem occupied, mostly content, but maybe scared at first? Something like an 8-week bootcamp? Breaks a few habits, nutrition and exercise? Learn them a few things?
I am careful what I believe in the papers now, bad things do happen, but I withhold judgement until I see incontrovertible evidence. Ranting and raving - not cool.

Melvin Udall: Never, never, interrupt me, okay?
Not if there's a fire, not even if you hear the sound of a thud from my home and one week later there's a smell coming from there that can only be a decaying human body and you have to hold a hanky to your face because the stench is so thick that you think you're going to faint.
Even then, don't come knocking...Not for ANY reason.
