Ok, Im no authority on Mexican customs, but isn't Israel the name of a prophet/biblical figure ? Like Jesus, which is a common name over there.Kuroneko wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2017 9:35 amHaven't a clue, who are "you guys", only ever been to the US once and that was 40 years ago.John Bingham wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2017 11:53 pmA Jewish Mexican, is that a normal kind of thing where you guys are from?

Popularity of the Name Israel
The name Israel has been around and in use since at least 1880, the first year the U.S. government began tracking naming trends. Generally considered a Jewish name, this apparently is far from the truth. Israel was likely brought to American by way of the Puritan settlers during colonial times. So the name has a wider religious audience than what one might think. What’s driving the name’s popularity in the United States is actually the growing Hispanic and Latino populations. The name is ranked the highest in the state of New Mexico which also happens to be the state with the highest density of Latinos. As the 55th most popular boy’s name in Mexico in 2010, our friends south of the border are influencing the name’s usage right here in America. Nationwide, Israel is not quite a Top 200 pick, but the name has shown consistent slow and steady growth since the 1940s.http://www.ohbabynames.com/meaning/name ... j3IQ3mYNLM

US couple arrested, fined for writing graffiti on Silom Road pole
- Police arrested a young American couple at a Bangkok hotel after a viral Facebook video showed them writing graffiti on a Silom Road advertising pole and public telephone booth on Wednesday.
After police were alerted to Vorathep Charoenpornpanich’s Facebook video at 4pm on Wednesday, they conducted an investigation and found that the two were staying at a hotel on Surawong Road near Silom Road.
They were arrested on Thursday and taken to the Thung Mahamek police station where they were fined Bt5,000 combined.
The two were identified as Baizer Bruce, 29, and Joness Ristin, 22. (the spelling is derived from police pronunciation of their names).
Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakpal, deputy tourist police commissioner, told a press conference at the police station that he had reprimanded the two tourists.
Surachet said the two apologised to Thailand and said they did it just for kicks.

Just pointless vandalism from the young people.

American Taggers Caught Red-Handed: Police
- Americans Zachary Bruce Beiser, 29, and Jessie Christine Jones, 22, were arrested Thursday afternoon for leaving tags in mint green and pink paint after a video of them scribbling on poles and electrical boxes went viral a day earlier.
“After some good citizens sent us the video, we went down to that area to look for them,” police Col. Netiwit Thanasitnikitul said. “It didn’t take very long. We found them with the markers in their hands.”
Netiwit said the farangs apologized for the vandalism, which they were fined 3,500 baht apiece at Thung Maha Mek Police Station late Thursday. “Maybe in their home country they’re not so strict about it,” he said. “They got carried away on their vacation.”
