Tuktuk thief foiled by Phnom Penh traffic

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Tuktuk thief foiled by Phnom Penh traffic

PHNOM PENH - A suspected tuktuk thief was arrested by police yesterday, 19 December. The man, seeing an unattended tuktuk in front of Koh Pich Bridge in Phnom Penh's Tonle Bassac District, Chamkar Morn District, thought he would make off with it. However, he was soon spotted, and the owner and passersby gave chase.

Due to the dense traffic on Koh Pich, the thief was unable to make a clean getaway in the tuktuk, so he abandoned it and headed for the river on foot. Despite his attempt to jump into the Tonle Bassac, he was nabbed by the crowd before he hit the water.

He doesn't look so well.
Did they kill him?
It's hard to tell.
Is there juice coming from his ear?
Silence, exile, and cunning.

he looks in remarkably good condition for someone caught stealing a tuk tuk. No visible blood or smashed nose, just deformed eyebrows and a dirt smudge on his upper lip

They probably just cut off his arms and legs after he said "no, not my face"
