Samudera supermarket Sihanoukville, who owns this disaster?

Post by superferret »

Samudera is a real disaster and it's been this way for years, the owners do not care. They don't mind having thousands of their customers running around trying to figure out the price of things each day, which are not marked on over half their products, and routinely make people stand in long lines with overwhelmed cashiers. All it would take is 1-2 more employees paid about 5 dollars per DAY to clean up this mess of a store and provide better service, but no, the owners- who obviously make tens of thousands of USD per day, do not want to spend 5-10 dollars to provide a good experience for their thousands of visitors. Who are these lowlife money grubbing businessclowns who own Samudera? Anyone know? I honestly wish for them to get some competition and get what they deserve- going out of business.

Owner is an old woman. Madame Samudera. 012 793 168. Give here a call. What ever happened to the huge new supermarket she was building behind?

I believe that it is being converted into a new casino and hotel. The entrance hall and foyer back on to the street that runs along Street 210.

At the front of the building there is a sign advertising jobs for croupiers, bar staff etc.

As a supermarket selling western food, Samudera have very little competition left in town so don't have to bother much.

Has anyone tried the online CMBmart ?

I haven't yet, but given the way Samudera is going - what the OP said, and often out of what you want - I keep meaning to give it a go.

I understood that she had leased the land to the Chinese to run a casino. I don't know how long for.

Madame Samudera appears to be an astute business woman who also remains interested in the rational and intelligent growth of Sihanoukville.

The may be one or two issues with the supermarket and it is obviously more expensive than the Phsar Leu market 300 meters up the road but the produce and service in the supermarket is acceptable. The recently expanded Orange Supermarket is only round the corner in Ekareach Street.

I use them 1-2 x per wk. Good service, good products & free delivery over $15. Had a couple issues first time & they made it right on the spot. Only 10 wks. in but happy if I do not have to go shopping. As much.

EZ fix. Vote with your $. Haven't set foot in there 2+ yrs. for the things you mention. She also has her own container ship deliver her goods. I don't think she will miss my dollar or yours. But I feel better. :thumb:

Think you'll find that Madame Samudera is a Chinese lady, ethnically. Hence running the busiest and longest lasting "supermarket" in town. The 300 store seems to be giving up on produce, aiming for plastic tat instead. Looking at CMB mart their prices aren't great. Khmer Wholsale now have a shop called Muy Pi Bey on Beach Road. It's indifferently stocked. Emaling them seems the best way to get things, eventually, but it is the cheapest. There's always plenty of Chinese people in Samudera, I don't see why we can't have something like the new Makro, even if all the white people disappear there's now a booming middle class of Khmer people who'd shop there. Maybe some fucker would start stocking Colman's mustard again.

Speaking of Makro. Anyone know where this will be in PP?
Will it be a business membership only or can anyone walk in and buy same in LOS?
