Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Otres duck farms told to stop polluting sea
December 7, 2017
Preah Sihanouk’s provincial environment department and Steung Hav district police have descended on five duck farms in Otres commune, instructing them to relocate after they polluted the sea.

Environment department director Samut Sothearith said the provincial administration gave the owners 30 days to move from the area in November.
The order came after it was found the farms had no proper wastewater management systems and were polluting the sea.

However, the farm owners showed no signs of moving, so police were drafted to help enforce the order.
Mr Sothearith said the owners requested more time to move. “We have instructed the owners of those five farms to move to another place and not to release wastewater into the sea,” he said. “This is a tourist area, so we cannot let them do it any more.”

Mr Sothearith said the farm owners have now been given until the end of March next year to move. If they still fail to comply, they will be forcibly removed.

Brilliant... give them all of high season to make it worse. Wait... most foreigners at Otres are so stoned and the place is such a shit hole, they won't notice they're walking around and swimming in duck shit.
You could be next.
