A New, Cheap Taxi Service Starts in Phnom Penh (Taxi Rouge)

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

That was my first thought too. Why use the French word for red, when it has such a powerfully negative connotation there? It seems a bit like a Germany company calling itself "Swastika, Inc.".

Do so many locals still speak French?

For sure, we will all remember the name. A year or two from now, no one but newbies will make the obvious comment.

By the way, Expenhman, there's virtually not enough cabs in PP to flag one on the go. Chances are that the ones you'd see on the roads are already hired. I usually call one to my office and they often take 30 minutes to find the place.
When chatting with them, the cab drivers usually are hired well in advance and some regular customers have their phone numbers.

I was horrified to see my travel agent (yeah, I was that young once) had booked me into the Swastika Hotel in Bali for my first overseas trip. I had no idea that the swastika is an ancient symbol that was bastardised by the Nazis.

Pretty good - you going to Bali? ;)

Kidding. Don't know about this specific taxi company but I do wish they'd teach the drivers to, you know, drive! before they let them out on the road.
