BugZone: Nothing's perfect...
Re: BugZone: Nothing's perfect...
Is there a way of turning off what is, for me, a large portion of the page that is unwanted? I'm referring to the section that has three columns Newest Posts Top Active Users Newest Users
and takes up all of my screen real estate that isn't taken by the very large banner header. Oddly enough, I'm sure it wasn't actually there a few hours ago but maybe that was wishful thinking on my part.
It's a point I've made before. Newest posts? Fair enough, I get that. It take up too much space and is over-intrusive for my usage, I pick up latest posts from within the individual categories. But Top Active Users and Latest Users? Who the fuck cares and if anyone does, does it really have to be at the top of the page? That should be at the bottom of the forum pages, down where the Who Is Online and other statistics are displayed.

It's a valid point, but what would be put in place of the 2 columns you don't like? They were designed to sit together, but I guess it's possible we could put something else.Brewer wrote:Is there a way of turning off what is, for me, a large portion of the page that is unwanted? Yes, but that just removes the Categories view and just doubles down on displaying Latest Posts.Username Taken wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 10:23 pm As shown in the pic above, you should just click on Active Topics. Cuts the crap.

Off the top of my head, how about splitting the section in two below the bar that contains Newest Posts Most Active Users and Latest Users and having it populated only by two columns of latest posts? That would half the amount of screen height the section occupies. Or you could leave it the same size but have twice as many entries. Although that would not be my favoured option! It would, however, be a better use of screen space and be more relevant to most users, I'd say.General Mackevili wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 10:27 pmIt's a valid point, but what would be put in place of the 2 columns you don't like? I agree that it's the only "relative" info to most, so I'd like to at least keep that. New members: I like it, as I can quickly see if we have any familiar names recently signed up, but I agree that most members probably don't care about that. Hell, we have been getting a lot more than 5 a day the last few months, so even that isn't very "useful" in showing most of them. And I do think we'd all agree that hardly ANYONE would care to know the post count of the most active members, period.Brewer wrote:Username Taken wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 10:23 pm As shown in the pic above, you should just click on Active Topics. In our defense, those are typical things forum stats show, so they were kind of default categories.
Will see what we can do, but no timeframe. Thanks for the specific feedback!

Re: BugZone: Nothing's perfect...
Absolutely, I agree that what is being displayed is very much a standard thing on fora. There is nothing unusual about it other than where it is located and what it does for the aesthetics - as far a functionality is concerned it isn't detrimental because it doesn't "break" anything.
In the very near future I'll be learning to code and produce websites so we'll see if mine are up to anything or if I find myself getting input from Monday Morning Quarterbacks also.

since the changes
i see that when i reload search.php?search_id=newposts
using firefox , the little dot to the left of the page title at top keeps being active even thou it appears the page is fully loaded
only happens with ceo, all other sites are good
says at bottom "waiting for camboidanexpatsonline...." as a pop up
But if i click stop, it does...

^^ You're not alone Richard.
Getting the same since yesterday.
And sometimes when opening a page in a new tab I just get a blank white page and have to reload the page.
I thought it was just me.
