This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Brian Aylward - voted Best Standup Comic at the Canadian Comedy Awards last year - comes to Cambodia for the third time to headline Comedy in Cambodia's show at the DPA theatre in Phnom Penh on Friday November 24.
Brian is now based in Bangkok, and he juggles his time between running Mad About Comedy shows there, performing all over the region and also flying back to his homeland for various tours.
Brian will be supported by one Phnom Penh's favourite comedy sons, Sam Thomas, and up-and-coming South African stand up Dustin Moore. This will be a very special night for all involved so make sure and book your ticket before it sells out via email to [email protected]. An early bird discount of buy two, get one free on tickets is available up until November 19. Tickets are $10 each, with doors at 7pm and show starts at 8:30pm.
The night is made possible thanks to our amazing sponsors - Pacific Hotel,Barb & Lotus, Giant Ibis Transport, Riel Brewing and Distilling craft ales (which will be on sale on the night), and Buffalo Sister Phnom Penh!

Brian Aylward
Based on a bet made back in 2005, Newfoundland native and then English teacher Brian stepped on stage for the first time at a rowdy expatriate bar in Anyang, South Korea. He went on to pioneer the active English stand-up comedy scene in South Korea, officially establishing Stand Up Seoul in 2007 and turning the country into a legitimate international destination on the circuit.
Aylward performed hundreds of shows across Asia, taking his own brand of acerbic humor to the likes of Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Thailand, and even Myanmar. Upon returning to his native Canada in 2010, Brian went on to become a two-time finalist in SiriusXM Radio's "Canada's Next Top Comic" (2011/2013), be a regular fixture across Canada’s Yuk Yuk’s comedy clubs, and perform theatre tours across the country.
Last year, he was named “Best Standup Comic” at the prestigious Canadian Comedy Awards, and he also was nominated in the “Best Comedy” category at the 2017 Fringe World in Perth, Australia.
With an enormous presence and a consummate love for making people laugh, Aylward details his deepest frustrations with the world through his razor-sharp routines and huge sack of ridiculous stories from his travels around the globe. Brian is also the (unofficial) world record holder for the highest number of 10 minute sets in a single day, performing 21 times during the Haebangchon Festival in Seoul.

Sam Thomas
American Sam may just be a local English teacher with stars in his eyes and a dream in his heart, but he appears destined for greatness having been a stalwart of the Phnom Penh comedy scene for the past five years. Sam was a top-finishing finalist at the Bangkok Hilarious Comedy Competition in 2015, and is currently fresh out of making the finals at the 2017 Hong Kong International Comedy Festival. He has gigged extensively across Cambodia and the region, including in Saigon, Hanoi, Bangkok, Yangon, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Jakarta, as well as in New York City and Boston.
The Advisor described Sam’s style as “hilariously self-defacing, clever comedy”, while Peter Doyle of The Gym venue called him “one of the best observational and anecdotal comics that I have seen in recent times”.

Dustin Moore
Former private banker Dustin left the world of money for the stage of funny, and is now a comedian, writer and radio show star. The South African has written and starred in the radio show "Funny Business", and has performed at comedy clubs around the world, bringing his unique mix of volcanic energy, intelligent humour and engaging presence.
